The University of Iowa College of Pharmacy has provided students with an opportunity to complete an Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) in Cluj-Napoca, Romania since 2017.

The rotation is 5 weeks and consists of opportunities to learn about the following:

  • Learn basics of the Romanian healthcare system and the Romanian pharmacy.
  • Gain an understanding of community pharmacy practice in Romania.
  • Provide exposure to a clinical pharmacy setting.
  • Contribute to a research project with an academic partner in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

Students will experience both rural and urban pharmacy settings and additionally may have an opportunity to have exposure to the concept of  pharmacognosy.
